Training covers a broad range of technical topics including air conditioning and heating systems, heat pumps, installation and maintenance methods, diagnostics and troubleshooting, electrical theory, wiring safety, copper piping and soldering, circuit diagrams, and the use of testing instruments. EPA 608 Exam preparation is also built into the curriculum - An essential step for any technician working with refrigerants in the U.S.
The program can be completed in as little as 12 weeks and has a total cost of $7,525 (including tuition, books, supplies, and the EPA test fee). It is approved by the Texas Workforce Commission and is open to anyone with a high school diploma or GED. No prior HVAC experience is required.
