The average salaries of these careers vary a lot and often depend on the amount of training needed. However, we’ve updated these salaries to reflect the latest data from the 2024 Bureau of Labor Statistics. Generally, the more training needed for a job, the higher the average pay, but this is not always the case.

Skilled Trade Workers In Demand
The following job growth is expected between now and 2032. Again, the listed salary information has been taken from the most recent 2024 Bureau of Labor Statistics.
- PV Installers: Solar photovoltaic installers are in demand, and this career is expected to grow 22%. PV installer average pay in 2023 was $53,140.
- Wind Turbine Technicians: The number of wind turbine service technician jobs is projected to grow 45%. The average pay for wind turbine technicians in 2023 was $65,380.
- Electricians: Employment of electricians is expected to grow 6%. The average pay for electricians in 2023 was $67,810.
- Carpenters: Employment of carpenters is expected to show little to no growth or decline in the next decade. The average pay for carpenters in 2023 was $60,970.
- Hazardous Materials Removal: HAZMAT removal employment is also expected to see little to no growth or decline in the coming decade. The average pay for HAZMAT removal workers in 2023 was $53,430.
- Iron-workers: Demand for iron-workers is expected to show a 2% increase in the next decade. In 2023, iron-workers earned an average pay of $68,220.
- HVAC Technicians: Employment of HVAC technicians and installers is projected to grow 6%. The average salary of an HVAC tech in 2023 was $59,620.
- Construction Equipment Operators: Construction equipment operator jobs are projected to grow 3%. In 2023, they earned an average of $62,180.
Some of these careers listed above, like wind turbine technician and solar photovoltaic (PV) installers, are in extremely high demand.
